How to use the Avada Wishlist Feature

Last Update: September 22, 2026

The Wishlist feature lets shoppers save WooCommerce products to come back to later — without needing an account. Visitors can add products from any product listing, share their list with a link, and you can bring them back with reminder emails when a list has been sitting untouched for a while. As the site owner, you also get a dashboard of every wishlist created on the store, including which products are wished for most, so you can see demand before it turns into a sale.

Wishlist requires WooCommerce, and is available only with an Avada One Pro subscription.

Turning it on

Go to Avada › Global Options › Sales › Wishlist and enable Woo Wishlist. This single switch unlocks everything else described below — the dynamic data tags, the Post Cards source, the menu item, and the admin dashboard.

Once enabled, set a few more options in the same section:

  • Wishlist Page — choose the page where visitors view and manage their wishlist.
  • Wishlist — Add to My Account — on by default. Adds a Wishlist tab to the WooCommerce My Account area so logged-in customers can find their list there too.

Build the Wishlist Page itself like any other page in the Avada Builder: add a Post Cards element and set its source to Wishlist (see below) so it lists whatever products the current visitor has saved. Around it, use the Wishlist dynamic data tags to add the pieces a shopper needs — a heading showing the Wishlist Name, a Number of Items count, and, if you want, Wishlist Share Actions/Share URL so they can copy a link to their list. If Wishlist Sharing allows it, this same page is also what a shared link opens to for whoever receives it.

How visitors use it

A visitor doesn’t need an account to start a wishlist. The first time they add a product, a browser cookie starts tracking their list. If they later log in, submit a form, or otherwise become a known contact, their cookie-based wishlist is automatically merged into their account — nothing is lost.

Each contact can have more than one wishlist (for example, separate lists for different occasions), and can rename, switch between, or delete their lists.

Adding a "Wishlist" link or icon to your menu

Once Wishlist is enabled, go to Appearance › Menus and open the Avada Special Menu Items panel in the left column — this is the same place you’d add a cart or “My Account” icon. Check Wishlist and click Add to menu. This only works in a menu that’s assigned to Avada’s Menu element (a standard WordPress menu location won’t render it).

Click the new item to expand it, then Avada Menu Options for two settings:

  • Show Wishlist Counter — turns on an item-count badge on the icon.
  • Icon Select — choose the icon used for the item.

On the Menu element itself, there’s a further mobile-only option, Use Wishlist As Icon On Mobile, which keeps the Wishlist icon visible as its own tap target next to the mobile menu trigger, instead of folding it into the collapsed mobile menu.

Displaying wishlisted products with Post Cards

Once Wishlist is enabled, Wishlist becomes an available data source on the Post Cards element (alongside sources like Recent Posts or a manual selection). Point a Post Cards element at the Wishlist source on your Wishlist Page and it automatically displays whatever products the current visitor has saved — no manual filtering needed.

Dynamic data for building your own wishlist actions

With Wishlist enabled, a set of Wishlist dynamic data tags become available anywhere dynamic data can be used (links, text, etc.) — useful for building "Add to Wishlist" buttons, a wishlist name/date display, or your own sharing controls. They include:

Tag What it does
Wishlist Actions A link that can add, remove, toggle, or clear a product from the wishlist (or delete the whole wishlist), for use on a button or icon.
Wishlist Name Displays the current wishlist’s name, optionally editable inline.
Wishlist Creation Date Displays when the wishlist was created.
Wishlist Share Actions A link to enable, disable, or toggle sharing for the current wishlist.
Wishlist Share URL The public, shareable link to the wishlist (only live if sharing is enabled).
Number of Items A count badge of how many products are on the wishlist.
Wishlist Page URL A link back to the page you set as the Wishlist Page.

These same conditions are also available as Conditional Rendering rules on any element, so you can show or hide content based on whether a specific product is on the visitor’s wishlist, whether their wishlist has any items at all, or whether sharing is currently on.

Dynamic Display: updating instantly, without a page reload

Every element also has a Dynamic Display option, in its Extras settings, which is a separate mechanism from Conditional Rendering: instead of deciding visibility once when the page loads, it watches the visitor’s live cart and wishlist state and shows or hides the element immediately as that state changes — no reload needed. For Wishlist, the available conditions are:

  • Wishlist Status — In Wishlist / Not In Wishlist, for a specific product.
  • Wishlist Item Count — compares the number of items on the wishlist against a value you set.

This is the option to reach for when you want something to change the instant a visitor clicks "Add to Wishlist" — for example, swapping a product’s "Add to Wishlist" icon for a filled-in "Already Saved" icon, or revealing a small wishlist counter in your header as soon as the first item is added. Note that page caching can affect what a visitor sees on the very first load, before any live update has run.

Showing Wishlists In An Off Canvas

To show wishlists in an off canvas, the correct approach is as follows:

  • 1
Add a button, set the dynamic data to add to wishlist or toggle wishlist status
  • 2
Create an off canvas for either showing a wishlist page link or post cards set to show wishlist items
  • 3
Set the off canvas conditons to show on all pages
  • 4

In the off canvas triggers, set After Product Is Added to Wishlist to yes.

The result is that when an item is added to the wishlist on any page, the off canvas will appear.  So when the button is pressed it will add the product to the wishlist, then the offcanvas will show and update.

Privacy and consent

Sharing. The Wishlist Sharing setting controls whether wishlists can be shared via a public link at all:

  • Enabled — every wishlist is shareable.
  • Disabled — sharing links are turned off entirely.
  • Consent (default) — sharing only works for the specific wishlists a shopper has chosen to make shareable, using the Wishlist Share Actions dynamic data tag.

Marketing email consent. The Wishlist Email Consent setting controls how a shopper opts in to receiving wishlist reminder emails:

  • Implicit (default) — simply using the wishlist feature counts as consent to receive reminders about it.
  • Explicit — a shopper must separately opt in through a Subscriptions field on one of your Contact Forms before they’ll receive wishlist emails.

Every wishlist reminder email includes an unsubscribe link. Using it turns off wishlist emails for that contact without deleting their saved wishlist.

Guests vs. known contacts. A guest’s wishlist lives only in a browser cookie until they become a known contact (by logging in, checking out, or filling out a form), at which point it’s saved to their contact record. The cookie itself isn’t created until a visitor actually adds their first item — simply browsing the site doesn’t start one — and it follows the same Guest Cookie Lifetime setting used elsewhere in your privacy settings (Theme Options › Privacy).

Data deletion. Wishlist is registered with Avada’s built-in privacy/consent system, so it appears in your site’s cookie and personal-data disclosures automatically, and a visitor withdrawing consent will have any guest wishlist data cleared. If a contact is deleted from your Sales dashboard, their saved wishlists are permanently deleted along with them.

Reminder emails

Wishlist can send a "Wishlist Reminder" email to a contact, listing the products still sitting on their list, in two ways:

  • Automatically — set Auto-Reminder Delay (Days) (in Global Options › Sales › Wishlist) to the number of days of inactivity before a reminder should go out. Leave it at 0 to turn automatic reminders off. Once enabled, Avada checks daily for wishlists that haven’t been updated in that many days and sends one reminder per wishlist — it won’t re-send until the list is updated again.
  • Manually — from the Wishlists dashboard (see below), use a wishlist’s row menu and choose Send Reminder to send it on demand.

A reminder email can only be sent to a wishlist that belongs to a known contact (a guest’s cookie-only wishlist has no email to send to), and only if that contact hasn’t unsubscribed from wishlist emails or been blocked. You can customize the reminder email’s design like any other Avada transactional email, in your email template editor.

The Wishlist dashboard

Under Avada › Sales › Wishlists you get two views:

  • Wishlists — every wishlist on your store, searchable by name or email, showing the contact’s name, email, item count, and when they were last active. Each row has a menu to view its items, send a reminder email on the spot, or delete it.
  • Popular Products — every product that has been wishlisted at least once, ranked by Times Wishlisted, alongside its current stock level — useful for spotting demand for products that aren’t converting into sales yet, or catching a popular product that’s about to sell out.

An Edit Email button at the top of this page takes you straight to the Wishlist Reminder email template so you can customize its design and copy.
