How To Use the Avada Product Comparison Feature
Last Update: September 22, 2026
Product Compare lets shoppers pick two or more WooCommerce products and view them side-by-side, to help them decide which one to buy. Visitors don’t need an account to use it — anyone browsing your store can add products to a comparison. As the site owner, you get a dashboard of every comparison happening on the store and which products get compared most often, so you can spot which products shoppers are actively weighing against each other.
Product Compare requires WooCommerce, and is available only with an Avada One Pro subscription.
Turning it on
Go to Avada › Global Options › Sales › Product Compare. Unlike Wishlist, Product Compare is on by default. Once enabled (or to confirm it’s on), set:
Build the Compare Page itself in Fusion Builder: add a Post Cards element and set its source to Product Compare so it lists whatever products the current visitor has added. Add the Compare Count dynamic data tag nearby if you want a running total, and a link using the Compare Actions tag (set to Clear or Go To Compare Page) so visitors can reset the list or jump back to it from elsewhere on the site.
How visitors use it
A visitor adds products to a comparison straight from your store — no login required. Their list is remembered for their current browsing session so they can keep adding products as they browse, then review them together on the Compare Page.
Adding a "Product Compare" link or icon to your menu
Go to Appearance › Menus and open the Avada Special Menu Items panel — the same place you’d add a Wishlist or cart icon. Check Product Compare and click Add to menu. This only works in a menu that’s assigned to Avada’s Menu element.
Click the new item to expand it, then Avada Menu Options for two settings:
On the Menu element itself, there’s a further mobile-only option, Use Product Compare As Icon On Mobile, which keeps the Product Compare icon visible as its own tap target next to the mobile menu trigger, instead of folding it into the collapsed mobile menu.
Displaying compared products with Post Cards
Once enabled, Product Compare becomes an available data source on the Post Cards element. Point a Post Cards element at the Product Compare source on your Compare Page and it automatically displays whatever products the current visitor has added — no manual filtering needed.
Dynamic data for building your own compare actions
A set of Product Compare dynamic data tags are available anywhere dynamic data can be used:
| Tag | What it does |
|---|---|
| Compare Actions | A link that can toggle add/remove, add, remove, clear the whole comparison, or go to the Compare Page, for use on a button or icon. |
| Compare Count | A count badge showing how many products are in the comparison. |
| Compare Page URL | A link back to the page you set as the Compare Page. |
These same conditions are also available as Conditional Rendering rules on any element, so you can show or hide content based on whether a specific product is in the comparison, whether the comparison has any items at all, or the exact number of items in it.
Dynamic Display: updating instantly, without a page reload
Every element also has a Dynamic Display option, in its Extras settings — a separate mechanism from Conditional Rendering that watches the visitor’s live state and shows or hides the element immediately as it changes, with no reload. For Product Compare, the available conditions are:
Use this when you want something to change the instant a visitor adds a product to compare — for example, swapping a product’s "Add to Compare" icon for a filled-in "Added" icon as soon as they click it. Note that page caching can affect what a visitor sees on the very first load, before any live update has run.
Privacy
Product Compare is registered with Avada’s built-in privacy/consent system as a strictly-necessary feature, so it appears in your site’s cookie disclosures automatically. It remembers a visitor’s comparison list for their current session only — there’s no account-linked persistence, sharing, or marketing email tied to it, so there are no extra consent settings to configure. If a visitor withdraws consent, their comparison data is cleared.
